Sports for Change

Our society is facing numerous challenges. Our lives have become too fast to be managed. Due to growing economic pressure and societal competition over limited resources and opportunities, people have no time for recreation, exercise, entertainment, social gatherings, public speaking etc.

The use of sports in social sector is not new. TFA acknowledges the importance of sports as communication channel, awareness raising strategy, community mobilization and a tool of change. Here under TFA, there will be series of competitions for various sports and games like cricket, football, volley ball, badminton, race, cycling race, handball, swimming and various other sports.

Being social sector organization, Ittehad Foundation believes that sports are much important in child and adolescent development. Such programs can support MTSP priorities, in both communicating messages and in programming, assisting the achievement of key objectives in health, education and development while supporting the active participation of children and adolescents, and ensuring the basic right to play (CRC, Article 31).

Apart from making them physically fit, sports and games teach many other social and moral values and qualities like discipline, team work, cooperation, leadership, tolerance, and patience etc.
Moreover the increasing competitions in education and economic field have built up pressure on our youth. This scenario is causing frustration and depression in our youth. Sports will acts as a positive engagement that will shift their minds and thinking to healthy things.

So this component has been incorporated in TFA with the following objectives:
  • To create and promote a culture of sports and physical education in schools and communities
  • To seek out local talent in sports and bring them to light
  • To preach the importance of sports and physical education to schools, colleges and communities
  • Use sports in relation to education, health, and protection of children and adolescents.
